Seattle police chief resigns after cuts to police budget

Seattle Police Chief Carmen Best announced her resignation on Tuesday, a day after the Seattle City Council cut the police department’s budget, as part of reform efforts following mass protests against police violence.

RIP Seattle. We'll see how bad it gets from here, or good. Just don't be surprised of the negative outcomes is all I can say. Can only hope for the best. Mind you the cut is only $3.5 million (< 1%) of the $409 million budget and vastly short of the 50% reduction that people were calling for. 100+ officers will be relieved of duty.

I heard about it this morning. What a shame. She seemed to have her head screwed on straight but I can't blame her one bit for resigning.
These past few months took its toll, I'm sure, and now adding salt to the wound.

I wish her the best.

Of what I heard, part of the cuts were her salary. That was the straw that broke the camels back it seems. She left professional thanking the mayor and such. Time will tell if she changes her story.
