Trump extends unemployment benefits, defers payroll tax

https://www.marketwatch.com/story/trump-extends-unemployment-benefits-defers-payroll-tax-2020-08-08

President Donald Trump on Saturday bypassed the nation’s lawmakers as he claimed the authority to defer payroll taxes and replace an expired unemployment benefit with a lower amount after negotiations with Congress on a new coronavirus rescue package collapsed.

Nothing about this on the National news, Keke and doogie have also ignored this.

reply

Thats good he did that, since Congress and Pelosi are doing nothing.

reply

Losing social security is good? You know millions live on social security after paying into it.

He is getting unemployed people paid again, since Pelosi did nothing.

Oh KeKe, you are too funny...

Dems aren't against the $400. They are against the 33% cut.

reply

Democrat Congress has been delaying this for months on purpose. Same reason they’ve never passed an infrastructure bill in 4 years. Same reason their governors have expanded lockdowns well beyond what’s justified or necessary. We all know why.

FYI: It's $300 from federal and states have to provide the 25% ($100) to make it actually $400. If the states are already financially strapped due to a loss of tax revenue after the coronavirus pandemic shuttered the economy, you won't be getting that extra $100 and the federal government is unwilling to provide COVID relief to said states from the already given relief pot. They may have to fund the benefit from other state resources. Jobless workers who receive less than $100 a week in unemployment pay aren't eligible for the additional $400 (waiters, gig economy workers, etc.).
