What Trump is trying to achieve with 'Obamagate'

With the nation in the middle of a horrendous pandemic, President Donald Trump has decided to devote much of his time fueling the "Obamagate" conspiracy. Trump went on a Twitter rampage this past week, sharing falsehoods and misleading claims that promote the conspiracy theory that former President Barack Obama led a supposed "coup" to sabotage his presidency.

But when a Washington Post reporter pressed Trump earlier this week to explain what Obama did, the President failed to clarify and said, "You know what the crime is. The crime is obvious to everybody. All you have to do is read the newspapers, except yours."

My theory is that Trump is practicing his projection deflection move. He knows that he is going to be accused of meddling with the executive branch with the Manafort early release, Cohen delayed release, multiple inspector general firings and Flynn charges dropped. His strategy is to make it look like every President has his hands on the executive branch so he wants to make a big deal out of Flynn's unmasking by Biden/Obama. I contend that unmasking Flynn isn't a big deal since the administration should know which US citizen is talking to the Russian government. My understanding is that Flynn's name was redacted from the government documents so the administration had to unmask him to figure out who was talking with the Russian government.
