I had to look up Dan Sullivan (R-AK)

https://thehill.com/blogs/ballot-box/senate-races/214317-alaska-republicans-focus-on-social-issues-in-senate-debate

Dan Sullivan (R) said he opposed legal abortion except in the cases of rape, incest or when the mother's life was at risk. In those situations he indicated he was personally opposed to them but believed people should make their own choices.

"That does not mean that I'm supportive of abortions in those situations," Sullivan said. “But because they're so, such horrendous situations, in support for the victim in those kind of situations of rape or incest, it’s also important from my perspective, that's something where the family should be making the decision on."

I had to look up David Perdue (R-GA)

https://www.perdue.senate.gov/news/press-releases/senator-david-perdue-we-must-stand-in-solidarity-to-protect-the-unborn

U.S. Senator David Perdue (R-GA) comments on the United States Senate’s action to bring the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act to the Senate floor for a vote:

“Just last week, Georgians and Americans from all over the country traveled to our nation’s capital to express their support for protecting the unborn. We have a moral obligation to fight on behalf of those who can’t fight for themselves. As a father and grandfather, I have witnessed the miracle of life and cannot imagine anyone not wanting to protect the life of an unborn child.

I had to look up Cory Gardner (R-CO)

He's reliably two-faced.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cory_Gardner

He ran for Senate in 2014 as a pro-life Republican. He has consistently voted to defund Planned Parenthood and in January 2018 voted in favor of a 20-week abortion ban.

In 2006 Gardner opposed legislation to allow pharmacists to prescribe emergency contraception, and offered an amendment to the budget to prohibit the state Medicaid plan from purchasing Plan B emergency contraception. In 2007 he voted against a bill requiring hospitals to inform survivors of a sexual assault of the availability of emergency contraception.

In 2012-13 Gardner co-sponsored personhood legislation titled the "Life Begins at Conception Act".

Good ol' Lady Lindsey and #MoscowMitch are pro-abortionists! LOL!

Let's see Evangelicals give them a pass on this one, too.

"Of the 13 Republican senators who did not sign the brief"

It's actually only 11, one dude filed something separately, and the other Georgia seat in is transition.

So the three GOP Senators who did not sign the brief and are not up for reelection in 2020 are
Lamar Alexander (TN), Rick Scott (FL) and Lisa Murkowski (AK).

reply

Richard Shelby (R-AL) also did not sign the brief.

http://www.shelbyforsenate.com/issues/

Senator Shelby is resolutely pro-life and believes that the Supreme Court’s ruling in Roe v. Wade, in which it decided that abortion is a constitutional right, is terribly flawed on both a constitutional and moral basis. He believes that it is our ethical and moral duty to protect the dignity of human life, particularly when it comes to the lives of the most vulnerable members of the human race.

Because of the Roe decision, Congress cannot outlaw abortion. However, Senator Shelby has supported policies to protect the unborn. He has consistently voted to prevent the use of any federal funds to perform abortions. He supports enacting measures that uphold health professionals’ right to refuse services that they believe to be immoral and to allow states to more carefully regulate the time, place, circumstances, and manner in which abortion services are provided.

Senator Shelby has also fought against taxpayer funding for Planned Parenthood, particularly in light of the recent videos highlighting the organization’s extremely gruesome and troubling practices. Most recently, he voted against a short-term funding bill in Congress because it did not defund Planned Parenthood.

Wow! All that digging and I didn't notice two VERY notable (well at least one) absences...

reply

One notable absence is the President of the Senate...

reply

Mike Pence is the President of the Senate.

reply

But he isn't a senator as the story was written for. Doug Jones will be the only loser in November.
Only 34% of respondents supported Jones’ reelection, while 48% opposed and 18% were undecided.

reply

Maybe Pence signed some other letter...

Maybe you can find it for me and post.

And while you're at it...

Find me the one signed by the only President to speak to the March For Life crowd.

reply

Describing himself as "a Christian, a conservative and a Republican, in that order," Pence marched Indiana to the front lines of the nation's culture wars.

I envision John Roberts walking Brett Kavanaugh down the hall, arm around his shoulders, explaining to him the facts of life... "The Supreme Court has to make tough calls on really complex issues, water rights, patents, gerrymandering, the wholesale slaughter of the unborn, trademarks... we have to prioritize..."

I'm far from convinced that REPs want to stop killing babies. I know a majority of DEMs don't want it stopped. So it's probably here to stay.
