Best Fantasy Film

There are lot's of fantasy films that suck. But there are also ones that are super great.
Which ones are your favorite? I personally find the Lord of the Rings trilogy to be the best.

I'm not sure, cause even though this is possibly my favorite film genre, oddly enough, I don't have a fav film from the genre. Most of my fav films are RomComs. But, I almost always enjoy fantasy films, even when a particular film is not my fav, because they are such sights to behold usually!

So, in that sense, I'd say maybe The Neverending Story and the Narnia films are the best, because they are so majestic! Just seeing them sets my mind on a fantasy all its own!

Alice in Wonderland is also wonderful for much the same reasons.

The Dark Crystal
Henson's one true masterpiece.

Labyrinth
Not as strong as The Dark Crystal, but wonderfully imaginative, dark, and fun with an amazing climax.

Legend
A nice take on the fairy tale genre. Not always as good as it should have been, but visually stunning, and the fairies are convincingly otherworldly.

Conan the Barbarian
A terribly underrated film and the only cinematic example of the sword'n'sorcery sub-genre that's of any true quality. Surprisingly good casting, visceral and imaginative fight choreography, a fantastic musical score, and a rather tight and intelligent screenplay more than make up for the film's flaws.

Return to Oz
I think I might agree with Peter David who makes the claim that it's actually better than The Wizard of Oz.

Do you mean the old Conan with Arnold or the new one? I personally liked the old one much better. I was looking forward to the remake but was disappointed.

Sorry, I should have specified. The old one, of course. The new one with Mamoa didn't even manage to be as entertaining as cheesy fare like The Beastmaster, Kull the Conqueror, or The Scorpion King.

I think Peter Jackson would make a good series out of the Conan books.

I have yet to watch 'Labyrinth' but I have heard good things about it.
