Is Narnia beyond underrated

or is it just me?

I think Narnia actually tends to be overrated. It's popularity seems to depend largely upon the first book, The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe, being so loved by children and fondly remembered by adults.

By the final book, the allegorical nature of the series had become so obvious and heavy-handed that the books had lost much of their charm.

I agree that it is actually a bit overrated.

Actually, Harry Potter is what I think is overrated because it's been too milked and got a lot less magical after the first two films. How is Narnia overrated? I don't hear people talking about that enough.

Oh, I agree that some Harry Potter films are overrated too (not the books, though).

What exactly do you mean by less magical?

If you are refering to the most recent adaptions, I didn't really like the first film, The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe, but I thought Prince Caspian and The Voyage of the Dawn Treader were amazing; criminally underrated by all means.

It's not a secret that Terry Gilliam was actually Rowling's first choice to direct Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone but the studios chose Chris Columbus over him, something that didn't please him very well. I wonder how his versions would be.
