Marvel Movies - Why So Expensive?
I love the Marvel franchise of Cinematic Universe films. They're fun, interconnected, and truly like nothing else any previous comic book adaptations have done before.
In a lot of ways watching the films together in the right sequence is like reading a crossover event - one of the good ones, like Infinity Gauntlet.
But there are still a few Blu-rays I have yet to buy, and the main reason is price. Most Marvel films at standing retail price, not on sale, is $29.99. Some are even higher. Even on Amazon and other cut-rate websites.
As it stands I still don't have either Cap movies, The Avengers, IM3 or Thor, and the main reason is price. Even when they're on sale at $19.99 it seems pretty unreasonable when compared to other blockbusters. And when they are on sale I often can't afford to buy in bulk, I have to choose one or 2. Even Disney has cut-rate prices for other movies and franchises.
I know the short answer is "Because they're Disney and they can charge what they want and people will still buy it," but why does Disney price the Marvel films at such a high premium? Even the older ones like Hulk or Iron Man? WTF Disney? I can get your Mirimax movies for $15 or less, I can get LOST for about $15 a season on Blu-ray. Why not ease up on the fans and bring the standing MSRP down on AT LEAST the older films as they pass - Cap 1, Thor 1, etc...
I don't know if you're aware of this but I've already changed things. I killed Ben Linus.
