In Iron Man, I noticed that Pepper went barefoot a lot. Did she do so in the comics?

I never really paid much attention to her feet, but I don't remember anything about it so I guess it didn't stick out in my mind when reading Iron Man books.
Maybe the director had a Tarantino-esque fetish.

Maybe it's to show off the fact that she's too intelligent to even wear those nauseous five-inch heels.

It's got nothing to do with the character, it's because Robert Downey JR is a lot shorter than Gwyneth so they had her barefoot and he wears lifts.
If you google it, you can actually see lots of photos of him wearing special shoes and sneakers.
It's hot... but not as hot as the night Johnny Viti got married...
