Long Halloween is near the top of my list of the many,many Batman stories that I like. one thing that's always leaves me guessing is the ending, and was there more then one Holiday killer. The scene with Gilda Dent at the end kinda makes it sound like,maybe she could have possibly been one of "Holiday" killers, and throughout the graphic novel Harvey Dent,I get feeling like he could possibly have done some of the killings.
shareWell technically there were THREE Holiday killers. Gilda started Holiday, then Alberto used it to knock off family rivals and Harvey took one at the end.
It's hot... but not as hot as the night Johnny Viti got married...
I was bothered by the way it was handled when it ended, because it felt like Jeph Loeb wasn't satisfied and needed one more twist. I think he still has that problem and it shows up in works like his Ultimate Marvel events.
Alberto killing off competition is a fine twist, Harvey Dent becoming a vigilante is also acceptable, and Gilda being an unlikely killer is a surprise that can work... but not all together.
I guess if I had to be more intensive about who really killed people, I still think Harvey killed the numbers between his house bombing and Alberto's faked murder, because of the way Gilda explains everything.
