Help re Marvel graphic novels/TPBs??
A work colleague has decided to try comic books for the first time (although they've never read them before, they do enjoy superhero movies).
I'm after recommendations for Marvel graphic novels/trades that don't require much prior knowledge of characters or events in order to make sense. For example... As a DC guy I recommended The Killing Joke, which was ideal as it's self-contained, has a straightforward panel layout, and needs no background knowledge other than knowing who Batman, Joker and Commissioner Gordon are. Is there anything from Marvel similarly accessible for a first-time reader? I'm thinking solo adventures would be easier at this point (Captain America, Iron Man, Daredevil, Punisher, Wolverine would all be good). This person is into psychological/ethical dilemma stories, rather than just 'Crash/Bang/Pow' stuff. I must stress, this person is a complete novice when it comes to 'sequential art'!
Thank you!
