Silent film vs dialogue-free film.
In case you don't know the difference, dialogue-free films still have sound, while silent films only have a music score. The latter generally use title cards; the former never uses them. Nowadays, there are more dialogue-free films that you'd think (usually short films). It's an artistic decision, while back then, almost every film wasn't silent by choice. However, there's still the ocasional silent film.
Anyway, which one do you prefer? I prefer dialogue-free films because they show that you don't need words to communicate. Those movies can be seen by foreigners that don't know the language of origin. A lot of silent films have unnecessary title cards (we can figure out what they're saying). Also, watching images with ONLY music can bore me.
