Produced and directed by Kevin Brownlow and Patrick Stanbury, and narrated by Kenneth Branagh, Cecil B. DeMille: American Epic provides a fascinating look at the life and career of one of the giants of film history, a man described as "the greatest showman on Earth." Tyrant, visionary, highly successful filmmaker – a character larger than life who directed such unforgettable epics as "The King of Kings", "Samson and Delilah" and "The Ten Commandments", which helped forge Hollywood mythology.
Among the interview subjects are DeMille collaborators, including Charlton Heston, Angela Lansbury and Elmer Bernstein; contemporary filmmakers Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg; and family members such as son Richard DeMille, granddaughter Cecilia Presley and Agnes DeMille, the celebrated dancer/choreographer and niece of DeMille. This two-part documentary follows his entire career, shedding light on DeMille’s entire work, from his prolific contribution to silent cinema to the Technicolor sound epics he is most famous for.
