Spring Is Here

Well, it is for some people in the Northern Hemisphere, and for others, it should be. 

(In the willow-meads of Tasarinan I walked in the Spring.)

This last winter wasn't that bad here in Poland, not like the one two years ago. But it wasn't as benign as that of one year ago either, and it's taking its time finishing, sleet, gusts of wind, cold rain, and low temperatures still with us, the green buds reluctant to come out of trees, coats and hats still necessary often enough. It might still be a few weeks before what I consider "real spring" to arrive.

How is it for fellow Ringnuts? And for those in the Southern Hemisphere, how is the end of summer and beginning of fall being felt?

Perhaps using bad superlatives, but we had a humongously milder winter this year compared to last. Not nearly as cold though January wasn't pleasant and much dryer. We really had no snow to speak of until the first week of March when we got 5 inches... though I'm sure someone from New England will describe their winter in much different terms.

Spring is still taking it's time in getting here. A couple of weeks ago we had 3 beautiful days, but the temps are back into the 50s now... actually to be expected for the first week of April. Spring can be such a tease sometimes, lol.

Thunderstorms are expected here in an hour or so, something we haven't had yet this year. Those I don't look forward to as strong wind, hail and tornados are not rare here in the midsection.

I only have one person on ignore, but I've had to ignore him 625 different times.

I think that's one of my new favorite quotes, Indy. 

You're in Ohio, right? Tornadoes are among the most fearsome storms I can think of; my parents were in Kansas for four months when I was a tot and my mother grew terrified each time a warning came out; thankfully, I've never experienced one myself.

It stopped snowing here several days ago and the blossoms finally came out. The last two days have been sunny and warm, a complete change of weather and public mood, people actually smiling and rollerblading.

I'm not sure where Indy is from but I'm from Ohio and I don't think anyone else from this area would describe this past winter as milder than the previous one, though both have been pretty harsh. We had one of the coldest in recorded history for our area. Long stretches of sub-zero (F) weather. Deep (ish) snow that didn't melt for months. The kids missed five or six days of school because the actual temperature was -15F in the mornings, meaning wind chill or real feel was anywhere between -20 and -30. It was definitely long and felt like spring would never get here. And don't even get me started on breaking ice buckets for the horses. Mine got bucket heaters this winter but so many people at the barn still don't have them. And way too many people don't bother to get themselves out in the cold because they assume someone else will check on their horse. So, those of us that are there end up cleaning out their buckets of solid ice. 

My daughter who is at school a little further west had two tornado warnings the other day but the weather broke up before it got here. Kinda of cool in the sense that she found out the university has a sprawling underground tunnel system that comes in handy for those.

We finally had a beautiful day yesterday. Sunny and warm. Just this morning I can see little green buds popping out of the trees. We had the same change of public mood. Everyone was out yesterday doing something. It was really a beautiful day. Today looks to be the same. Here's to hoping this trend continues.

Well, my days of not taking you seriously are certainly coming to a middle.

I'm from Michigan and here in A2 our weather was much milder this winter than last. It didn't really snow until Feb 1, and then we got 17" at once, but very little after that. It did get quite cold in Feb, but by March 1, once again we were waking up to temps above 0F, and now it is consistently above freezing at night. Roads were good this winter, and as we move into tornado...errrr...Spring season, things are looking pretty good. We did break cold records in February, though.

We did have a couple of 'cold days' at the schools, but only a couple, compared to last year when schools couldn't open the week after Christmas break because of bad weather. My brother lives in Ohio and I think you all had much more snow and bad weather than we did for a change.

Those horsies are lucky you and others were there to look into their care. I just take care of the wild birds and squirrels that visit our feeders- much easier!

Sorry so long in responding. No, I'm from Indiana, Lafayette area to be exact, about 60 miles NW of Indy and 90 miles due south of Gary.

This has been a very rainy summer so far. While the temps have been in the 80s generally it rained about 31 days in June. Seriously I think we had maybe 9 sunny days all month. My garden has flooded so bad one has to use tweezers to pick green beans or one will pull the plant right out of the ground. The only thing doing good is green peppers who like a lot of moisture. Hopefully it'll dry up some in July so the tomatoes will ripen properly.
