Anyone else wish this could have been a TV series?

I love the films and I will never forget how much I looked forward to seeing each one at the cinema, it became quite the event and I couldn't wait to watch each one. That being said though I dearly wish this could have been made as a TV series.

With the success of Game Of Thrones I have no doubt that Lord Of The Rings as a series would find equal success. It would also have allowed even more of the story to be told and let us come to know the characters even more. I love how Jackson included practically everything but I think there is even more that could have been shown.

Anyone else think this would have worked as a series too or do you prefer the films?

I wish it were true. They could make a mini series based on the game Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor itself.

I think the grandeur of the series requires the ability of cinema. I think a lot would be lacking if made for television. I just wish we'd had a director who used the potential of the mythology more than Peter Jackson did - and didn't make some of the more peculiar adaptation choices that he went with.

Good question Maddy. I definitely think that someday Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit could be made into TV series like Game of Thrones.
Such a production would not have all the CGI of the Jackson movies. But a TV series could either follow the books more closely or at least include more from the books.

I'd love to see a TV series version of LOTR, but not at the expense of the movies.
