Did the Hobbit really bring the series full circle?

I had to read the Hobbit in high school many years ago, the movies
based upon it don't seem anything like I remember the as being in
the book but it was a long time ago.

I saw Chris Lee for a moment but what was he doing in the movie? What was
his justification other than to make a cameo. If you blinked you could have missed him.

Also how do the Dwarves all being dead and cave Orcs down below and
the king dead from an Orc attack from the Dwarvs" digging too deep" Fit
into Lord of the Rings. Was not The Hobbit a precursor to Lord of the Rings.
What was the big fight and where was the all the gold? I am confused.

Lastly Alfred the sleezy murderous coward always being saved no one kills him?
Usually in movie land or book land characters like him get their poetic
justice but he gets to take off with comical pseudo breasts full of coins.

Oh Well thanks for any help.

For Tolkien and the Jackson movies, The Hobbit and The Lord of the Ring are one story.
Saruman's (Christopher Lee) role that happened at the time of the Hobbit story comes from both the Hobbit novel and The Lord of the Rings book.

The Dwarves and the Orcs (in An Unexpected Journey) were fighting for Moria. This part of the story comes from the Lord of the Rings Appendix.

As for Alfred, that is a complete creation by the film's writers. They decided that he would not be killed.

BB ;-)

it is just in my opinion - imo - 🌈

There is an Alfrid death scene in the new extended edition. They make it a little comical, a big troll puts Alfrid in its mouth, and then the good guys slay the troll, and when it falls down Alfrid is crushed in its mouth.

We saw this but Alfred jumped out of the mouth after they killed it. SO
then there is an outtake of his not popping out the mouth?

Are you a nut? The Hobbit movies had nothing to do with the book. Go
back and read it if you ever did! It was all CGI Peter Jackson comedy.
GET REAL TROLL.

I like that the ending of Battle of Five Armies sets the events of Fellowship of the Rings into motion.

Looking back I realize I got a few details wrong, but Alfrid is IN the mouth when the troll falls, and it seems to crush him. Here's the scene...
