Teaser trailer for Rogue One didn't come out until April this year. Right before the home video release of Episode VII.
There wasn't any other Star Wars movies to get mixed up with when the first Episode VII teaser came out.
But Rogue One wil need to get its feet under the table before they start promo-ing next December's Star Wars Episode.
It might be as early as during the release of Rogue One, but I doubt it. Probably in the new year.
