What are the chances that maul beats obi wan in rebels season 3?

It seems unlikely, but you present an interesting scenario. Maul could kill Obi-Wan in effigy.

It would surprise a lot of people because since the mid season trailer everyone is expecting maul to die.

Obi-Wan killed maul when he was just a Padawan. Obi-Wan is older and much more powerful, I doubt that Maul stands a chance.

Maul is one of my favorite characters and i hope he survives. He is a neat character, but I'd expect him to die at some point before Obi-Wan is contacted by Leia through R2-D2, maybe before Han is rescued from Jabba. I prefer that it be Vader that ultimately kills him. If it "turns out" that he outlived Vader and the Emperor, it means that, in a way, the Anakin didn't succeed at bringing balance to the Force, but yet it would explain how the dark side re-emerged so quickly again (Snoke), and that perhaps a new messiah had been born in that time.

That's like suggesting that a physician has no MD just because his or her license to practice medicine was revoked. Maul's irises are still yellow too, right? However, I suppose, Maul could've lost a lot of blood when he was cut in half, leading to not only amnesia but also some loss of his experience level. He did emerge from the event with a considerable amount of insanity after all.
