Why was Hagrid...

Why was he allowed to go back to hogwarts as a member of staff when everyone still thought he was responsible for opening the chamber of secrets and the girl being killed.
Read the books numerous times and seen the films loads but never understood this

Did you not read the Chamber of Secrets book or haven't seen the film's ending?. His name got cleared.

You didn't understand what the OP was talking about. He wasn't talking about when Hagrid was an adult. He was talking about the aftermath of Myrtle's death.

Because Dumbledore knew he was innocent and that Hagrid had no place else to go (Hagrid's father was dead and he certainly couldn't go to his mother). So Dumbledore convinced the headmaster of the time to let Hagrid stay at Hogwarts as a Gamekeeper.

Only the Transfiguration teacher, Dumbledore, seemed to think Hagrid was innocent. He persuaded Dippet to keep Hagrid and train him as gamekeeper. Yes, I think Dumbledore might have guessed....Dumbledore never seemed to like me as much as the other teachers did.... CoS chapter 17: Heir of Slytherin.

It's also briefly mentioned in GoF chapter 24: Rita Skeeter's Scoop.

Ahh fair enough thank you

His name must have been cleared as some point or Dumbledore just trusted Hagrid better then other people and that might have been the staff person. But the only person to ask this question is to JK Rowling as she wrote the books and not us.

Deadpool explained it in the previous post.

Keep in mind he didn't become an official teacher until PoA, after the events of CoS and his name (finally) got cleared. Before that, he was just a glorified gardener, the Filch on the outside of the grounds. I wouldn't call him a member of staff before PoA. Funny, though, he sat at the teacher's tables during mealtimes although I don't think Filch did. Probably a privilege for being close to Dumbledore. 😊
