Need Harry Potter advice

Huge amusement park enthusiast but couldn't give less of a *beep* about Harry Potter. Just wondering if I need to actually read any of these books or watch any of the movies before going to ride the ride this weekend, or if it's not really necessary to fully enjoy it.

If you watch the movies or read the books you will be more familar with the characters of Harry Potter, otherwise you won't know who they are. Doubt that they will ask trivia questions about them, but it never hurts to be prepared. But if you don't give a beep about Harry Potter, then why are you going on the ride?
