Worst travel experience?

My wife just flew to Seattle for her work. The plans were:

6am Hartford to Chicago
1 hour layover
Chicago to Seattle. Landing at 3pm (Noon PST)

Except her flight was canceled. So Southwest changed her itinerary:

7am to Tampa Fl. Then a 6 HOUR layover fly to Vegas at 4. Then her flight was delayed an additional 2 hours. So she flew out of Tampa to Vegas at 6pm. Landed at Midnight, then from Vegas to Seattle. She landed at 6AM EST this morning. Her luggage is in Phoenix. She'll get that tomorrow.

In total from Hartford to Seattle was 24 hours.

I fly out to visit next week. Wish me luck. Taking Delta.

Anyone else have a nightmare like that?

Update, Wife got her Luggage at 6:30pm PST on Monday

reply

No, but I don't think I've ever travelled on a flight that wasn't non-stop. I've had flights delayed a few hours due to weather, but once I boarded it was always smooth sailing. Er, flying.

reply

Couple of hours of layover doesn't bother me. That's why god invented Airport bars. For that $9 can of Coors Light.

Did your airport not have any toilets to drink from?

reply

Driving 6 1/2 hours North to go survivalist camping in April, and freezing my dick off under seven layers because all the wood around us was dead.

Camping 6 hours North (somewhere else) with my friend last Summer right after he had a fresh breakup, and I had to deal with him getting drunk, crying, wrecking *beep*, uttering death threats for three nights.

Getting kicked out of Niagara Falls a couple Summers ago was probably the worst though.

I've been lucky with aeroplanes, biggest issue I had was on the way to NZ when the airline sent my bag to LA. It turned up before breakfast the next day though so no real drama - bit daunting trying to communicate with a Singaporean policeman with an M16 in order to get into the airport to collect it though.

reply

Why was a Singaporean policing in NZ? I assume NZ is New Zealand?

Or was this a stop in Singapore?

reply

Yeah sorry, didn't make it clear, this was during a Singapore stop-over.

reply

C'mon you won't say why you were kicked from niagra falls?
