sharethis is what a guy said on gamefaqs.
This game is creepy as s***. I seriously feel like I'm playing a mix of Resi 1, 3 and 4 in first person mode. You never feel safe. You constantly feel like something's right on your ass ready to carve you up in a million pieces. And so far it's WAAAAAAY more graphic than RE has ever been. It's a horror game through and through. I haven't felt this uneasy since playing Fatal Frame the first time.
As for the complaints about creature variety:
True horror isn't what you see, it's what you dont see, the feeling of impending doom, the overall feeling that you're just plain *beep* and this game delivers that and then some. You will be hunted relentlessly at any given time (sound familiar?) and you either fight or die. This is a great game so far, and definitely worth a try.
I've played about 30 mins so far and I agree with that. It's a mix of Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Alien Isolation right now.
You def need good headphones and a dark room to set the mood.

"The game is pants"
I'll be getting it in a few hours. People may find my love for VR annoying, but it genuinely made feel something I haven't felt for years. I haven't been truly scared by a horror game since Silent Hill 3 and that was 14 years ago. Playing the regular Resi 7 demo was no different. It was.. good, but that's about it. VR changes everything. I was legit gathering courage for an hour before I went down to the unknown basement. I'd run around the area I already knew was safe pretending to myself that I was looking for things I may have missed. But I was just being a pussy.
Can't wait to sh!t my pants tonight.
Nice. Love Silent Hill 3 (though 2 is scarier). It ought to be scary without VR though (the demo did nothing for me).
