I know there were threads on this a few weeks ago but I didn't bother to read them at the time. Apologies for the rehash.
Anyway, is it worth a play or do the notorious camera problems sour the experience?

You have to wrestle with the camera a bit, but it generally felt like a minor gripe that didn't take away from the overall experience.
In fact if you didn't have to wrestle with it (especially if it used a fixed camera) it would probably end up feeling flat and mechanically un-involved.

The game does indeed have plenty of personality - even if it's a bit "awkward" to control at times.
There were maybe only a few moments where the gameplay was properly bad and outdated. The rest made for a very emotionally investing game.
It's a game for those who have a soft spot (i.e. not Yoss).

It certainly soured my experience. I'm still only like an hour or so into the game, back from mid-December. It literally gave me a headache. And this is coming from somebody who loved SotC on PS2, so maybe I was just not feeling it that particular play session.
I don't doubt that it becomes tolerable, or at least something less than acutely nauseating, if you stick with the game, and that it'll be the requisite feels trip and all that. So pretty soon I'm going to start 'er up again with a fresh slate, a clear head, and only the best intentions!
They released a patch that helped with the camera and frame rate a bit for the OG PS4.

It's for sure worth a play through. I played through it three times.
Playing it right now. I'm going to disagree with another poster above; the controls are horrendous. Like, the worst I've experienced in at least a decade in a AAA release.
It speaks volumes about how much I like the world that I'm willing to keep playing, but Christ does the camera get annoying.
