“There are certain characters who hold a special place in the hearts of millions,” Affleck said in a statement. “Performing this role demands focus, passion and the very best performance I can give. It has become clear that I cannot do both jobs to the level they require. Together with the studio, I have decided to find a partner in a director who will collaborate with me on this massive film. I am still in this, and we are making it, but we are currently looking for a director. I remain extremely committed to this project, and look forward to bringing this to life for fans around the world.”

Hopefully this spells the end of endless comic book movies. Pretty sure just because you said this Marvel just planned out the next 15 years worth of Superhero movies just to spite you.

Marvel makes decent movies though.

A lot better than the DC pieces of sh!t that they try to pass off as movies.

Translation: The last movie you directed (Live by Night) was a box office flop, so you're fired from directing The Batman.

You can't just have your characters announce how they feel! That makes me feel angry!

I would not be surprised in the least if its due to WB execs meddling with the movie and Affleck not wanting to deal with that crap. Affleck wants to do one thing, WB execs and their scrambling to try and fix their DCU likely wants to go another direction.

Affleck is still contracted to show up in movies so cant get out of the role, but can step down as director.
