IMDb: "For years, users have done nothing but complain about the boards"

For years, our customers have done nothing but complain about how the boards are run, what features are missing and how angry they are about how other users have treated them. This is reflected in the relative traffic shrinkage of the boards. We have reached the point where most of our customers do not even know they exist; many that do know about them have been scared away after bad experiences. We have lost a non-trivial number of customers due to bad experiences on the boards. This is wrong on so many levels.

"For years, our customers have done nothing but complain..."

That dude sounds exasperated, honestly. Cynical and fed up and maybe even disgusted with his own staff, as well as obviously with all of us board users.

Damn right I have.

Having board software so old and broken is ridiculous. Even Doomworld has updated its forum software multiple times.

I'm glad that you feel it's time to take responsibility and apologize for all that happened.

Exactly. If some of the communities are toxic, that's because IMDB did nothing to actually moderate them. The automated reporting tool is a joke, just another tool to abuse other users.

If Col Needham knew there were problems "for years" then why didn't he do anything to solve them? Can anyone with a straight face claim IMDB made any effort to improve the forums?

Bigly.
