I'm enjoying The Gunslinger, but

The first book is a bit of a struggle, but the series improves over the next few books.

I personally love it, but I know King isn't a big fan of how he wrote it. The rest of the books are much easier to read. 1-4 are all among my favorite books ever.

its the only popular stephen king novel that i havent read. hope to read it this month.

i'm half done with it. not bad at all. but never read a stephen king books like this. i would like to know whether the sequels and prequels maintain the same standard.

i'm not enamored by it. but i think its interesting. this is my first novel in the fantasy genre after reading some enid blyton as a kid.

The second, third and fourth books are really good. The later entries become far too convoluted and overly enamoured with itself. Wizard and Glass was actually my favourite.

Exactly. I think the first one actually stands on it's own fairly well too, before it starts getting hampered down with the entire mythology and story. I admit tapping out after Wizard and Glass.
