Worst follow-up album after a classic........

I think it begins and ends with Fleetwood Mac's "Tusk".

Yeah, I know it's gotten more respect as time went on and "Sara" is a GREAT tune, but c'mon........that album was a dud. Some of you might be too young, but trust me, when that album came out after "Rumours", it was a huge letdown.

How bout some other choices?

Was very disappointed with Pieces of Eight by Styx following Grand Illusion
The Long Run following Hotel California.

Good call with the Lennon choice.

I agree with The Tusk thing.....Rumours being such a wonderful album.

Personally, and I know it's some folk's favourite, but I have never forgotten the disappointment of Pink Floyd's The Wall after loving Animals, Wish You Were Here and Dark Side.......Meddle etc
A bunch of us youngsters got the beers in and listened to it over Christmas that year of release...and we all loved the single (Another brick in the Wall) which had number oned here in the UK.......but to a man and lady, we were all WTF....what miserable self indulgent twaddle.

Over time I concede it is a fascinating piece of work and has a few fine moments and fits into their canon....but it was not what Pink Floyd were mostly about for me....which was atmospheric music...Not childhood angst and trauma.

I was also quite disappointed with The Sweet Keeper, Tanita Tikarim's album following the excellent Ancient Heart. I haven't heard it in many years though (unlike Floyd's Wall) so I may give it a fresh airing with elder ears.

GOOD SKY YOU'VE GOT HERE McCINTYRE........WELL DONE!!!

Wise words about The Wall, good Doctor. While I've never really disliked the album, it was such a departure from everything else, it was jarring. Plus, it was obvious even then, that Waters had taken over every aspect of the music, and it really wasn't Pink Floyd anymore.

As with a few famous double albums ( Beatles White etc) Mr.M...the Wall, for me would have made a better and more satisfying single album.
But heigh ho....as you say.....never 'disliked, it as such.....it was just dissapointing after many fairly faultless Floyd albums to my taste.
Roger's pretty cool again after recently, publicly admitting he was wrong about his shenanigans over Floyd name....and doing that anti-Trump song other day.
I might put me on some Atom Heart Mother in a while .

GOOD SKY YOU'VE GOT HERE McCINTYRE........WELL DONE!!!

Wish You Were Here. What a crappy disappointment after the great Dark Side of the Moon. Bland space disco crap. Also Moby Grape's second album Wow.

I prefer Wish You Were Here, and you won't get much support on that one.

On Rateyourmusic,The Dark Side of the Moon
32,454 voters gave it a 4.26 rating.

Wish You Were Here
25,823 voters gave it a 4.29 rating. Donald Trump is the weak man's vision of a strong man.

The Final Cut is the biggest letdown of all... just sounds like reheated The Wall leftovers until the last two songs finally inject some much-missed energy into the proceedings. Too little, too late. The two albums which followed Waters' departure are far superior to that miserable whinge of an album.
