Anybody like his weird weekends or other documentaries? Most Hated Family In America and its follow up were great, as are most of his weird weekends

I've seen most of his doc's and have enjoyed all of them, although some are more interesting than others. I guess it depends on the topic. The ones you mentioned are very good, the Westboro ones especially. He is very good at getting people to talk with minimal prompting, sort of a 'good cop' routine. I wish he pushed a little harder at times though.
shareYeah i feel that way too, sometimes the questions he asks are a not the ones you really want to hear the answers to and its lacking a bit, especially the one he did at the miami mega jail, that was sort of underwhelming. For the most part though i find his docs interesting and actually quite funny a lot of the time.

Funny you mention the Miami Mega Jail doc as it's one I've never seen entirely. It's been on here at least 5 times I know of but I keep noticing when it's maybe half way through! I agree he can be funny at times, I think that easy going nature also helps his 'subjects' open up a little. I think he would make a good dinner party guest as he would probably get everyone spilling their secrets but I reckon he'd have some pretty good stories too! Have you seen his new series? I think it's a 3 part series called LA Stories or something like that. Airs here (Aus) in a couple of weeks, looking forward to it.
shareLouis often seems like the only sane or composed person in each episode, which is just brilliant. That, the culture shock and just louis' attitude throughout is very funny.
They haven't been put on netlflix yet and i never caught them on bbc 2 if they were shown so no, but i will keep an eye out, i did catch the extreme love specials about autism and dementia, they were both very good.

I saw the extreme love episodes somewhat recently. The autism episode was a real eye opener (lack of experience). I agree totally with what you said, Louis is very much the voice of sanity at times! I enjoy the times he is a little out of his comfort zone, but he keeps at it anyway. Examples; In the Neo Nazi doc when he identifies himself as Jewish he doesn't miss a beat. There was an episode about a brothel and when the main 'interviewee' made a pass/offered her services, he was obviously very surprised and uncomfortable but kept at it and it was actually very funny. Probably the only time I've ever seen him almost speechless!
shareIt was an eye opener, i can certainly sympathise and appreciate what those parents do for their children when prior to the documentary i had never thought too hard about it. Louis was pretty uncomfortable when that guy was googling him too, looking up his heritage and filmography... There was an episode about body builders where Louis mentioned how small the man's underwear was and he took it as Louis insulting his small penis, which led to some hilarious awkwardness.

Exactly what I thought. While I knew what autism is and it's symptoms, I never really gave much thought to how far it reached. Those parents deserve an award or a sainthood (I'm not religious) or something, their acceptance and patience is inspiring. Did they have Louis oil up/get a spray tan for a contest in the bodybuilding episode? I must have missed that one, but it sounds hilarious, I'll have to keep an eye out for it!
