Paige O'Hara talking about Belle

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YAgMUpvylcY I think Paige O'Hara made a good point about Belle being empowering but Ariel was strong too. Please don't say Ariel gave up her voice to get Eric. She wanted to be human before she knew Eric existed. Eric just gave her more motivation to want to become human. I don't completely agree with Paige O'Hara was the first liberated Disney Princess. I personally believe it was Ariel but we can agree to disagree. Also even before Ariel there were strong Disney females such as Alice, & Flora, Fauna, & Merryweather from Sleeping Beauty. I think problem is people forget about them because they are not princesses.

Cool. Beauty and the Beast is easily my favorite Disney film.

And even if Ariel had only given up her voice just for Eric, well, then she would still have been an independent girl, who was not afraid to make her own choices. You can argue that going so far as making that deal with Ursula would make more sense, if she actually had talked to Eric and gotten to know him before she gave everything up for him. Then again, this movie is based on a fairy-tale. So I can cut them some slack on the "love at first sight" bit.

Intelligence and purity.
