Will the Disney Vault system ever end?

Nope i have my doubts that the Disney vault system will ever end. In a way the Disney studio are carrying on a tradition that Walt Disney himself had, when he would re-release aimed movies, I know for sure he did it with Snow and the Seven Dwarves and he would do that every 7 years. I am trying to think if he ever did it with some other the other movies that he and his staff made. And that even coutuined by the Disney studio after his death until I believe the late 80's or 90's when they first released the movie on vs, and then eventually on dvd and now even blu-ray too.

If they haven't end the practice by now in the digital age, they never will. Like nobodymournsthewicked said, it's been a studio tradition since Walt's time to re-release a film every seven or so years before they remove it from distribution.

And I can see why they do it. By withholding their products from the marketplace, it increases the demand for them, and with that demand comes millions of dollars in profit. If their films were readily available through Internet streaming, consumers would least likely want to purchase the physical copies and if a majority of them don't, it would hurt their home video division.

I would have to imagine that you are right, I am trying to remember the time period of the re-releases of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, but I believe the first time was like 7 years after its original release, and start in that period until at least the 1990's at the very most. After Snow White Walt Disney didn't really have any big hits with his next animated movies starting with Pinocchio, and I believe the next hit one for him was Cinderella, and that was released 13 years after Snow White and the men Swarves. You would also be right that it would create demand for them, but they re-release them again when they think people would want to buy them again.

I think the Disney vault trend needs to stop soon. It's irritating that certain Disney films get taken off the shelves for so long.

The ones that they take out of stock are ones that are considered classics, sequels to them, and even the 90's versions of The Jungle Book and 101 Dalmatians that starred Glenn Close as Cruella DeVil. But I don't know if I can see the more recent Disney animated movies, or the more recent movies live action reimagining of some of the namated movies, Malfiecent, Cinderella, and The Jungle Book that was released this year, will ever get put into the vault.
