Best of the Shrek movies and why?

Shrek 2 for me.

The first Shrek films are about even in quality so it's really hard to choose. The first two acts of Shrek was a great satire on fairy tales and Disney's adaptations of them while the third act was the typical "misunderstanding trope" seen in a lot of romantic comedy films.

Shrek 2 was just as fresh and enjoyable with the inclusion of Puss in Boots and Prince Charming, the Fairy Godmother being a better villain than Lord Farquaad, and seeing Shrek as a human was a good idea. However, the moral was almost the same as in the original film.

I'll say Shrek is the best film in the series, but Shrek 2 is my preferred favorite.
