Help with submitting an idea

Hi there, im currently at university studying the film industry. I am just wanting to find out for one of my assignments, how do you go about submitting a film/tv idea to a production company and what is the best way of achieving success?

Just contact the company, submit an idea, get a meeting, pitch the idea with enthusiasm, and hope for the best.
