2013 Scores?

What are your opinions on 2013 scores? What have you loved so far? What have you hated? Let me know your disappointments, your surprises, and what you're waiting for.

This year I've been away from the score scene and I've barely listened to any music. I was very anxious for and deeply disappointed by Man of Steel. And everything else held my attention for short spans - Only God Forgives, Oblivion...

I was pretty ready to write off 2013 until I got some pointers about David Wingo's 'Mud' and Daniel Hart's 'Ain't Them Bodies Saints.' These are really great scores.

Aint them bodies saints: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZUnytGog2UQ Is it too early to say I want this to win the Oscar?

Also, although Zimmer has disappointed me twice this year, I'm anxious for 'Rush' and '12 Years a Slave.' Also, I'm very happy to know there's a new Korzeniowski (Romeo and Juliet) round the corner. And we'll see what Howard Shore does with The Hobbit.

The page is not working. But what do they say about Zimmer's score?

Oh well, maybe Rush will be worth it then.

I'm trying to come up with a list of everything I've listened to this year so far; here's what I've got:

M83 - Oblivion
Thomas Newman - Side Effects
Ryan Amon - Elysium
Annette Focks - Night Train to Lisbon
Rodrigo Leão - La Cage Dorée
Cliff Martinez - Only God Forgives
David Wingo - Mud
Clint Mansell - Stoker
Ennio Morricone - The Best Offer
Hans Zimmer - Rush
Hans Zimmer - Man of Steel
Hans Zimmer - Lone Ranger
Ramind Djawadi - Pacific Rim
Marco Beltrami - The Wolverine

What about you?

Also listening to Steve Price's Gravity right now, and it's a fatiguing, unharmonious jumble of noises in the new tradition of Trent Reznor, without anything beautiful or good to for me focus my attention on. Completely forget each track as soon as I finish it.

Listened to Brian Tyler's Now You See Me. It had a good main theme, worked very well in the movie, but the score itself doesn't offer much more than that.

Listened to James Newton Howard's score for Parkland, it's alright but far from his great epics. I'm also trying Abel Korzeniowski's score for Romeo and Juliet.
