Sky Blue Films Launch Horror Script Competition
20th April, 2015: Sky Blue Films, a London based independent film production company, announce the launch of their horror script writing contest, which awards a cash prize of £1,000 to the winner. The aim of the competition it to unearth hidden talent that would otherwise have gone unrecognized.
In addition to the prize money, Sky Blue Films have taken the unusual step to offering the potential winner the opportunity to work with them as the script is produced and ultimately turned into a feature film with the winner receiving a financial stake in the production. The only criteria for the scripts is that the genre must be 'Horror'.
Set up in 2012 Sky Blue Films have produced a range of exciting content, from commercial shoots to music promos, culminating last year in the cinematic release of their debut feature film “United We Fall” (in association with Magnet Films) which premiered at Raindance Film Festival 2014 and was nominated for best UK feature film.
Commenting on the launch of the competition, Sam Mintz Co-Founder and Director at Sky Blue Films said: "We are delighted to be launching this competition and I can't wait to see what people submit. For years I have read amazing e-books, self published by otherwise unknown authors, so I know the talent is out there. Ultimately this competition is just a fun way of getting the talent to come to us."
Screenwriters are invited to submit their work via email to [email protected] by the 31st of May, all submissions must be written in English and not currently optioned or under consideration. Each submission must include a synopsis, treatment and the full script.
"Sky Blue Films was founded in 2012 by Cameron Wauchope and Sam Mintz. To date their production company has produced: fashion promos, short films (featuring at major international festivals), music videos for artists including Ghostpoet and The Frattelis and the feature film United We Fall – Premiered at Raindance Film Festival 2014 and nominated for best UK feature film"
