Peter Jackson VS. Christopher Nolan

Peter Jackson has an amazing sense of visionary. He has his flops like The Lovely Bones and some of his earlier films. He also usually writes and directs adaptions. From books mostly. Christopher Nolan on the other hand creates original ideas even if he gets some of Batman's inspiration from the graphic novels, it is only loosely based on it as much as small details goes. Nolan also makes very original movies like The Following and Inception. He also made a movie that was based on a book, the prestige. Both great Directors but Christopher Nolan would be the better one, in my opinion.

Christopher Nolan has done 3 great movies, Jackson has done 3 so I've got to go with Nolan.

I've seen everything but Insomnia by Nolan and everything by Jackson except Heavenly Creatures. I think Nolan is a good storyteller and does a great job maintaining mainstream appeal while integrating huge innovations, but I also think Jackson is immensely talented and the sheer scale of his productions, along with the entertainment value of his old movies, prompts me to place him in a slightly higher regard.

Not really a fan of any of them, they have made decent movies, but not awesome. If I had to rate and rank the movies I have seen by them it would be:

Memento 9/10 - Nolan
LotR: The Two Towers 8/10 - Jackson
LotR: The Fellowship of the Ring 8/10 - Jackson
LotR: The Return of the King 8/10 - Jackson
Inception 7/10 - Nolan
The Dark Knight 7/10 - Nolan
The Dark Knight Rises 7/10 - Nolan
Batman Begins 7/10 - Nolan
The Prestige 5/10 - Nolan
Braindead 3/10 - Jackson

I really have to see King Kong, The Following and Insomnia. I have to give it to Nolan, because of Memento, and he seems more promising. And if you count LotR as one work, Jackson's output is pretty weak.
