Do you refer to directors by their first or last name?

shareI tend to refer to the classic 'great' directors by their last names, e.g. Fellini, Hitchcock, Bergman, Goddard, Antonioni, Truffaut etc.
HOWEVER, in terms of more modern directors I tend to refer to in their full names. For example, one would (hopefully) know who you're talking about when referring to Fellini, however speaking of David Lynch or Wes Anderson in using just their last names may not be so apparent.
