Why are there so many addicts in Hollywood?
Does it make sense that there are so many? How many stars do you think are addicted
(what percentage). Why do you think the gifted find it hard to find lasting recovery?

It's not known if Hollywood workers are more likely to use drugs than people that work in other spheres. We usually assume they are because their lives are more public and anything they do ends up in the papers.
Here's the only study about illicit drug use by profession I could find:

As you can see, drug use in food preparation in construction is the most prevalent, also, they group Hollywood stars in a big category: "arts, design, entertainment, sports, and media", so it's hard to know what profession in that category is driving up the numbers.
It seems, however, that the great majority of people in these professions are NOT drug addicts, so is incorrect to assume that there are many addicts in Hollywood. More than in other professions, maybe, but not a lot.

Well maybe not "addicts" but I think that we can safely assume that 90% (if not more) of them experienced drugs at one point or another in their careers.
I would aay that at least 60-70 percent are addicted. They become adicted because sometimes they can't handle all of the publicity around them and they find it hard to recover because when you start to try and quit drugs but it makes them so sick and that is what causes them to keep going.Drugs damage your body.
shareThey are in a cutthroat business. They experience all kinds of negativity from the media, the public and their co-workers. Back-stabbing is common. Most deal with the hatred by going to therapy sessions. A very few are tough to the core, and won't let anyone stop them from achieving whatever dream they may have. Fame and power is a drug some can't resist!
Also, they are in a creative world. And, like musicians, writers, poets, singers and others in a creative world, they find it painful at times. So they numb their feelings with drugs and other deadly stuff. Their peers are doing it as a matter of course. They seem to be more accepted by certain powerful industry players who can give them a break if they go against their morals.
Here's an example: A co-ed I met in college told me she went to audition for a superstar actor. the actor came up to her, a complete stranger, and fondled her breasts. She quit acting on the spot. You see, if that scenario was enacted by ordinary people in ordinary work settings, the molester would be carted off to jail.
There are numerous other reasons. These are just a few of them. This doesn't mean there are no nice people in the industry. Remember, it's a make believe, creative world.
.
I think this may contribute to it. First they probably have easy access to drugs. Second most in Hollywood have plenty of money to buy the drugs.
shareToo much money, too little sense.
Don't blame me, I voted for Hillary.
I think the high percentage of unreported & unpunished sexual abuse which goes in Hollywood, probably plays a role too. Celebrities taking drugs to get their minds off of being raped, etc.
I am Judge! Jury! and Executioner!
I don't think that there are so many addicts but because of the press you always get this news about addicts so you think that the percentage is high, but they are just normal people.... But if you need a reason: They are always watched. Every second of their life is watched they maybe do what they love but some just cant handle this
