Rightly or wrongly I am convinced that you would be particularly fond of "Blue is the Warmest Colour". I think it was released in the present year. It will be released as DVD on 14th Februart 2014.

One of the girls has blue hair. There are wonderful sex scenes of a kind we will rarely see in movies made for ordinarily commercial theatres.

If I can trust my memory, this movie won the Golden Palm in Cannes.

This movie is classified as a Tunisian film, which may mean little more than that the finances came from Tunisia. Though the director is also from Tunisia. But all actresses and actors are French, French is spoken, and all landscapes and "townscapes" are clearly French.

The Swedish Film Institute showed "Afternoon Breezes" (Kazetachi no gogo) by Hitoshi Yazaki (Japan, 1980). The copy was a 16 mm format. It seems that it has not been formally released. Two girls (A and B) are sharing an apartment. A is heterosexual and does not know that B is homosexual and in love with her. When A is about to develop a sexual relation with a boy, B tries to destroy this by seducing the boy. A finds out and throws her out of the apartment. Then B will secretly follow A and the boy. These two are happy, but B has a facial expression of empty despair.
- - B will find A's garbage, in which she finds an apple half eaten by A. And B will eat from the apple to have a little contact with her beloved.

The scene with the half eaten apple is also found in a recent French movie that is not really about Lesbian feelings. The original title would mean "The Birth of the Octopuses", but I think that the French are about to change to the international title, "Water Lilies". To some people the sexual drives will start first, but will in their earliest state not be directed more by any of the genders. One of the girls will like to see the other perform and lead a team of water ballet girls, and this leader will likewise like to be seen by a girl. - But most probably both girls will eventually have unmixed heterosexual relations.

In her youth Shirley MacLeane had the part of a Lesbian girl. She was so desperate because of her feelings that she hanged herself. Without this end the Hollywood censorship would hardly have permitted the movie to be released. - This may be the least appropriate film for you.

Sorry, I cannot recall more movies. But I wonder if IMDb does not have a special file where you can find a list of all movies about homosexuality.

I recall one more Lesbian movie. Read my plot summary. But the movie is about more than these feelings:

"Utsukushisa to kanashimi to" by Masahiro Shinoda (Japan, 1965)

But it is a tragic movie. It is the adaptation of a novel by Yasunari Kawabata, who got the Nobèl Prize in 1968.

I forgot to tell how to find the Japanese movie. A DVD without subtitles can be found in Japan, but another edition with subtitles in English and Chinese can be had from dvdasian.com

I also forgot that a French adaptation of Kawabata's novel exists, named "Tristesse et beauté", directed by Joy Fleury (France, 1985) I have not seen it. It seems to me that the French audience is not enthusiastic about this version, but maybe they are mistaken. I do not know if it is available on DVD, or is subtitled.

Well, this information about the IMDb search machine is the best I can give you. You can easily skip the TV series. And extensive summaries of 693 movies plus TV series should not exceed what you may be prepared to do. Good luck. Max

On a film festival I have seen an Israelian movie with male homosexuality.

"Yossi and Jagger" by Eytan Fox (Israel, 2002)

It may or may not be the same movie which another user saw on netflix with a similar but not identical title.
