need title to sci fi film

Got a Question. Can anybody identify the sci-fi movie (probably from the fifties) that involves the following scene? A pair of astronauts on another planet are trapped behind some rocks-- the only thing that is protecting them from the intense heat of the sun. Then they are approached by a slow-moving rock monster. They know they will be killed by it very soon, but also know the risks of exposing themselves to the direct sun rays. They choose a quicker death and leap from cover of the rocks-- only to be instantly incinerated. Anybody know what the name of this film is? I haven't seen it since I was a kid and I've been curious about it ever since. Thanks.

Sounds like The Monolith Monsters (1957)

It doesn't sound anything like The Monolith Monsters, which is entirely Earthbound and has no astronauts.

"Say it with flowers . . . give her a Triffid."

Sounds like Missile to the Moon (1958). Is this the scene you're talking about?

Wow, that was quick.

I lived in Houston, TX, as a kid and there were two
Sci-Fi/Horror shows on the weekend, "Weird" and
"Late Weird".

On I think it was "Late Weird" there was a movie I
got to stay up and watch one time where a rocket
with a bent nose was stranded on the moon. On
the moon was a giant ape, no kidding, like King
Kong ... but it was so stupid, but also scary to a
little kid.

I've never forgotten that, but I also never remembered
the name of it, or maybe it was a big hallucination?
You would not know the name of that movie would you?

I remember the ape reaching into a passage of the ship
like King Kong trying to get Faye Wray in the Empire
State Building. What a laugh.

I'll bet it was a very old movie that was so bad no one
thought to convert it from nitrate to modern film? I don't
know, but I'd like to find out what that movie was and maybe
see part of it again to be sure it was a dumb as I recall.

That was it! Thanks. I hadn't seen it in probably 50 years, and a lot of the details were different from how I remembered it (to be expected)but that was definitely the movie I was looking for. Thanks again for your help.
