2 April 1968 to 25 May 1977

What is your favourite sf film released between 2 April 1968 (the premiere of 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968)) and 25 May 1977 ( the general release of Star Wars (1977))?

One only please (imagine the world is about to end and you can only save one sf film!)

I'll go with Sleeper (1973).

A CLOCKWORK ORANGE (1971).

Even now, I still find it hard to accept that it is such an old film. It still seems so fresh and immediate - and different.

Logan's Run (1976)
Logan's Run was really all about the actors ability that carried a far-fetched story and made into reality - Michael York , Jenny Agutter , Richard Jordan , Peter Ustinov , Roscoe Brown and Farrah Fawcett .

Thanks for the list--it helped a great deal.

I'll go with Solaris -- http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0069293/reference, altho there are a number of legitimate contenders.

It's interesting to see the variety of SF films from this period, before the deadening influence of the success of Star Wars constrained film makers' choices, severely curtailing the experimental character so fundamental to SF, whether filmed or written.

Also note that the only "franchise" is Planet of the Apes.
