Full straight romances or mixed with action ?

Fans of the romance genre do you like action mixed with romance or you prefer full straight romantic films. ?

I do like both equally full straight romances let us get involved more with the love story and follow better the couple in their romantic journey. Their love story kind of makes more sense as a whole but in the cases of romance mixed action the peace flows better and in case of us girls it's easier to make our guys to see the film with us hehe.

And to not be sexist actually there are some woman who think full straight romances often fall flat with no real problem or a good climax in their romance.

I have a friend who thinks that she loves romances but everytime we've gone to see a straight romantic film she gets a little bored like fault in our stars or endless love but yet she liked very much the legend of hercules, Divergent, Hunger Games, The a Mortal Instruments and twilight. That last one had very little action but had more action than something like the notebook?

So I ask again a full straight romance or better mixed with some action.

The concept of romance on film(or any other form of media for that matter) as the main focus often becomes problematic for me. Too often I feel that the film is trying to portray that the two or more characters are becoming complete in another person and the character development is happening in the realm of the relationship. I understand finding happiness in another person, but I draw the line at basing our value on having another person, doesn't matter whether you are male or female.

More often I am probably going to go with a film mixed with action. I once said to my friend that Marge and Norm Gunderson from Fargo were one of my favorite couples. Nobody in their right mind would call Fargo a romantic film. Marge and Norms scenes together are sparse and are completely grounded in real life. They are also the films happy place and are overflowing with love.

The full on romances that I do enjoy very much are usually about very complicated people with a strong sense of self. If they don't have these characteristics, the only way I'd enjoy it is if things end badly for the couple(a la Wuthering Heights) Sadly, there are not enough of these to my liking.

Ir depends. What really matters to me is that it's well done and that I believe in the characters and believe that these people are in love. If that happens, then I'm emotionally invested in the relationship regardless of whether it's the film's primary focus.

FORGOT DIDNT GIVE MY ANSWEER

awnay to bump the therad i decided to put it as a replay hehe

anyway i love both types, but i discovered that there is not the pure Romantic genre since Romance is always mixed with another genre.

Romance is just a base that goes togehter with another genre and the three with see most often getting fushioned with romance are Drama, comedy and action.

I don't know if I'd say that. If the focus in a film is on a central romantic relationship then I would call that film a romance, whether the tone is comic or dramatic.

Great point but the thing is that yes the film is centered on a love story but it goes with a second genre that's why we've always had Rom Coms and romantic Dramas which is putting together two genres and the second sets the tone of the love story,

Now there is the big trend of romance/action which I'd call those romantic Action flicks, they have always existed but with YA book adaptations this two genres( romance and action ) together have become more popular.

A lot of people get bored by out & out romance movies . Two of the best straight romance movies I've recently seen have been Letters to Juliet (2010) with Vanessa Redgrave and Amanda Seyfried , and Julie & Julia (2009) with Meryl Streep and Amy Adams. I'm putting these two up against Upside Down (2012) with Kirsten Dunst and Jim Sturgess , and John Carter (2012) with Lyn Collins and Taylor Kitsch.. probably two of the finest action-romances ever made . But I think the straight out romances are always slightly better and finer .
