The romantic films ending poll

I saw an The IMDB poll about how you prefer your endings on romantic films and I'm surprised how Happy Endings is winning with Ambiguous ending getting the second place.

I voted for the happily ever after ending because of my favorite romantic flick The Thomas Crown affair.

I thought the dead got them apart or break up would win but almost everyone on IMDB is a sucker for the fairy tale ending in Romance

Here is the link to the poll in case you want to vote

Well it's not much of a choice - 5 movies - to choose from , but I have to agree that all's well that ends well !
Out of the 5 , my favourite is Casablanca , and the one I have been most conflicted about as a romance movie is Gone with the Wind (which is more like a lesson in ethics) .
I prefer my romance movies to be humble in theme but with lots of character . Example: The Decoy Bride (2011) , a british comedy romance about a celebrity writer and a fan , who develop an uncomfortable relationship , but find they can't live without the other . It's a pitifully sycophantic script/story that only works because of the talented actors .

Other examples are I Hate Valentine's Day (2009) and My Life In Ruins (2009) .

I do like deeper romances like Doctor Zhivago (1965) or Interstellar (2014) .

I am confused. "Happily ever after" in The Thomas Crown Affair? Absolutely wonderful film, but hardly a happily ever after ending...? He's on the plane with the money, and she's left standing there, with a telegram in her hand telling her he's gone and to keep the car. Unless you're talking about the remake, which was a rather forgettable film? So much so that I can't remember how it ends, or if I've even watched it to the end.

Regarding the poll you are linking to: I don't see the point of it. Some of the choices are rather bizarre anyway. Romeo and Juliet for "til death do us part"? Wasn't it in death they were finally united? Never mind, I have favourite films, a lot of them romance, but no favourite ending. Depends entirely on the story and my mood on the day.

I meant the remake from 1999 that's my favorite romantic film. The Thomas Crown affair with Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo. Have you seen it( The Thomas Crown affair 1999 version) ?

If not I highly suggest you to do so, they made a great updated version with a happy ending and they changed the Bank Robbery for Paint Stealing from a museum. They also changed the Chess for a Dance scene.

1999 version Happy ending :

Katherine played by Rene Russo ( Vicky in the Original) finds thomas this time played by Pierce Brosnan with a woman named Anna at his home to be more specific his bedroom. she thinks sheis cheating on him, he stops her they discussed and finally he tells her he gonna hang back the painting at the museum so they can run away together and she would meet him at an heliport.

Second act Katherine tells the detective he plans to go to the museum to return the painting there ofcourse He does what he came to do but with a great plan to escape. Crown gets away with it so Katherine runs to the heliport once she gets a package and latter she takes her flight to London goes on the plane she cries that she lost him and thrn she recives a tissue from the back with a voice of someone telling her you don't have to cry. She turns to her back and there is thomas crown.
She jumps to his sit they kiss and credits roll with the song windmills of your mind this time sung by no other one but Sting.
