Student Of The Year, a high school film not quite like with others
I am planning to start an independent film within next year or two. It's called Student Of The Year.
I wrote this story 3 years ago in September/October. I originally concieved it as a comedy-drama that'd be more accesible to masses but I have to ditch that now to allow creativity to flourish. I've been constantly changing and writing new ideas for it expanding into a more complicated yet intriguing story.
Without spoiling too much, in the story Alex Rooner a senior in high school becomes popular by winning a football game. He runs for student council representative which ignites a rivalry between him and the school's most popular girl Sandra Connor. People love her as a cool and fashionable girl when in reality she is cold, calculating, and controls authority figures and other kids in school to get what and where she wants. Alex falls in love with Sandra's friend Anjie who is trying to solve the mystery behind her sister's death which also ties in with Sandra's past which creates a domino effect that will change the course of high school and evolution forever.
It has themes of corruption, popularity, loss of identity, social class, social order, fascism. Almost all high school films are either John Hughes movies, romantic comedies, or Twilight fetish propaganda so it'd be good to see a change of pace for the genre.
me your thoughts and I will notify when I open up a Facebook account. Please show this to many people as possible so people will find out.
Thanks and have a great day.
