Is Stephen King's 'IT' (the 1990s TV serial adaption) overrated?

A big yes from me. Watching a Disney movie is more scary than this.

Not sure about the new IT movie - 2017. Not seen that one.

It's dated that's for sure.

No. Its a cult classic in my eyes. Way better than the modern garbage.

Tim Curry’s Pennywise alone makes it a classic, meaning, timeless. Horror is something that rises up from your soul. It doesn’t bite you from the outside.

I like it. The first part when they're kids is slightly better than the new one, in a large part because the horror scenes aren't so exaggerated. I think the upcoming It: chapter two might be better than the old part two though. In the old one they really tried for a grand finale, but it became a bit ridiculous. They probably didn't have the means for it in a made-for-tv production at that time. They should have opted for something smaller/more atmospheric instead. There was no need for a giant spider.

It's better than the remake.

Tim curry was great as Pennywise.
