Filming Dancers: Whats up with the "Quick Cut" ? Part Deux

I'm not a director. I'm bringing this comment over from
The Nicholas Brothers page. is my complaint valid?

So,
More than a few years ago (10+), I saw some documentary about Film.
(of course I do not remember the name of it!)
In this documentary, one of The Nicholas Brothers,
(From the famous dance team of film and television, 1930's through the 1970's)
Was complaining about film directors/makers use (and over using),
]"Quick Cuts". aka, "Fast cutting". A film editing technique which refers to several consecutive shots of a brief duration (e.g. 3 seconds or less).

Basically he was saying that modern film makers, do not know how to film dancers anymore. Instead of filming in a way that shows the moves and enhances the performance,
(pretty much the way it was done before, say 1970)
You now get a whole lot of Quick Cuts, hiding the moves of the dancers, and obstructing the performance.

He complained that, the Quick Cut,(along with simply not showing the footwork of entertainers, used to be reserved for, performers whose dancing, simply put, wasn't very good. Now, it seems to be an attempt
to impart action, unnecessarily, to the action?
An effort to pace a performance, that has a pace?

The best, latest example of this would be,
Lady Gaga's 2017 Super Bowl performance.
A remarkable display of singing, dancing, and even acrobatics,
that fought its way through, bad television directing.
A dynamic performance, made visually (for lack of a better word) Clunky
A lot of quick cuts, lots of shots from the knees up, waist up, and even tighter shots,
when it was clear, wider shots would provide a better view!

Some Film school out there, needs to gather up the footage and recut(?)reedit(?)

Question: Does anyone out there, know the documentary in question?
Final Point: If you are a Producer or Director of Dance,
(as opposed to a consumer),
Show the Dance!
