Pokemon Journeys is on US Netflix and should be given a watch.

So, I've seen the past Pokemon anime, and a majority of them were entertaining and animation seemed consistent. Then the sun/moon anime came out and I just couldn't get into the style. The way it looked was just off putting to me.

When Journeys was announced and released I thought, eh I probably won't watch. But after giving it a try I'd recommend it. Ash still looks a little funny, though its an improvement over Sun/Moon. Also the show has sort of departed from the standard anime formula of Ash going around chasing down badges with his companions. The episodes so far have ash visiting different regions on mini adventures. It actually reminds me a little bit of Pokemon Generations because it's not just about battling but more of seeing different parts of the world (which Generations did).

Also, the pokemon seem to have been given a bit more personality, which I enjoy. There was an episode with a piplup that swam a stupid long distance to prove it self, but upon completing the swim it appeared all shriveled up like some kind of cartoon mummy/zombie (if you've ever seen all might's scrawny form you'll have an idea).

Anyway, if you're bored and like pokemon or have kids and want to give them more pokemon stuff to watch, I'd say hop on Netflix and give Pokemon Journeys a watch.
