Vocal fry has destroyed acting

Many years ago, when MTV was still a watchable channel, there was a girl on "The Real World: Seattle" that has got to be the Godmother of vocal fry. Her name was Irene McGee and she went by the nickname of Piggy, and this girl spoke every single word out of her mouth in a vocal fry.
To call it annoying would be an understatement, so imagine my horror that by the end of 2016 approx. 80% of American females 35 and under are torturing us with vocal fry.
How could any sane person think this makes them sound intelligent ?

Even worse, a large portion of the Vocal Fry Vamps also use the high sweep at the end of their sentences, where every sentence sounds as if a question is being asked. I suppose that's their homage to Valley Speak from the 80s.

Maybe [Congress] will pass a future law to where American citizens can carry nightsticks and whack the hell out of any Vocal Fry Vamp and force them to speak as if they're human. 
