Come to think of it, we haven't heard from Moviefan225 in a month. And he's the guy who had the idea for the group in the first place. Interesting. I think he and Kazak have dropped out.
I guess I'll delete them from the roster.
BTW, I'm leaving tomorrow for OKC for Storm Chasing. I will return on June 1. Have fun!

Have been very busy of late and not had much time to watch films. I tried watching Sophies Choice the other week but fell asleep during it as I was tired, so I still have to find time to review the last two films.
I have a film choice which I hope everyone will be able to find.

PS And it starred Lee Pace. I enjoyed his earlier work in Wonderfalls and Pushing Daisies,
two excellent TV series. Unfortunately neither series lasted long due to the pinheads at the respective networks.

I don't know what we can do, really. It's a voluntary thing. Plus the first few movies were on Youtube, so maybe availability plays a role? And interest (in the movies themselves)? I may be grasping at straws here.
We might look into some solutions, if things don't pick up.

Have the next member make weekly or fortnightly film choices, so that there are new films for those participating.
I don't think we're suggesting time limits for the discussions. I'm sorry if it's come across that way. Everyone has their own schedule and the threads are always here, whenever people can comment.
It's just things have slowed down a bit, and we're wondering.

I'm still here, I lurk more though. I just haven't seen a lot of the movies suggested so far and have a lot of other stuff to watch and to do so haven't had the time to sit and watch them. I was hoping ones I had already seen would be picked, cause I'm selfish like that π so I could just jump into the discussion right off the bat.
I tried to get more going in the thread for my pick, but it didn't really happen. Now, maybe my pick just suuuucked and that's fine. But all the threads seem to just fizzle out cause people seem to pop in, give their review, and pop back out instead of creating a free flowing kind of thing that leads to further and further discussion. Ya can't help that really, people are going to participate how they will, but I didn't get the feeling people were willing to go in depth about this stuff and so that doesn't bode too well for a group that's set up to do just that.....
Anyways, that's just been my observation and 2 cents. I'd like this to continue still and I hope activity increases, but if not...even a tiny amount of us could still have some good conversations! I didn't want you guys to feel like I had up and left too (though some of the site drama again keeps me at bay a little as well), but I'm around with fingers crossed!

I don't think a time frame is a bad idea at all. It still keeps it loose, but at least, gives people some reference for when to check in, when to anticipate something new, and provides some sort of structure for a discussion. Also, it's not like the other threads close so even if they wanted to hop in at a later point they still could.
Inviting more people is cool too. Since I'm not as active anymore I don't have as many buddies around, but I'm open to seeing who else wants to join because then maybe it'll pump a bit more life into this and it could take off more. Whatever works!
New recruiting, yes (though I can't think of anyone right of the bat that I can recruit :( ). And we may look into making the discussion threads to the movies' boards. That'll bring some more traffic potentially.
A time frame is something I thought about too. A new movie every Monday, or every other Monday, something along those lines.

shareI think we did try to keep it too relaxed, haha....I think having some things in place is good just to give it some form. It also could provide some momentum to the discussions if people are aware of some sort of turnaround.
Access is a biggie too, I agree. I was torn trying to decide what to pick because I was worried it wasn't available to so many people. If it wasn't on Youtube I ruled it out, but obviously, that rules out A LOT. Eventually, it was either I just decide on something or don't participate, which I didn't want. So the accessibility of the films is a huge factor, the way I see it, but there's not much we can really do about that unless we become our own distribution company, lol.
At first, I thought we were going to bring our threads to the actual boards as a way to inject and increase more activity, but then that didn't happen....I still think it's a good idea though. I know some worry it could invite unwanted eyes, or whatever, but making it more visible could also bring in more discussions.
I guess it depends on how most of us feel about that.

shareOh, of course....even if we try to roll out some type of rules it doesn't mean they're set in stone. This is all a little experiment anyways, gotta trial and error some stuff before we know what may work best.
I do think some things need to be implemented though, if only for optics and to bolster discussion.
