Skyscraper: Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is back in a power-packed action film!

Skyscraper is an upcoming American action film that is written and directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber. It stars everyone’s favorite Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson. The film also stars Neve Campbell, Chin Han, Roland Moller, Pablo Schreiber, Byron Mann, Hannah Quinlivan, and Noah Taylor in pivotal roles. Skyscraper is all set to release on 13th July 2018 both in 2D and 3D.

Dwayne will be playing the role of a former FBI agent, Will Sawyer who is also an amputee. He lives in the tallest and "safest" skyscraper in Hong Kong with his family, known as "The Pearl.” The building comes under attack by terrorists and things get complicated when Sawyer is framed for the attack and his family is trapped.

The official trailer of the movie was released and four months ago and was extremely well-received across. Deemed to be a “Die Hard meets The Towering Inferno” action flick, Skyscraper could probably be one of the biggest original Hollywood releases of 2018, both in terms of budget and global gross.

The Rock is also one of the producers of Skyscraper. Not all actors get to make such luxurious choices. However, Dwayne Johnson is known to take up projects only when he likes a particular thing about the movie and feels some kind of connect to it. As a kid, Dwayne Johnson played the game rampage and that is what pushed him to make a movie about it.

Talking about what motivated him to do a film like Skyscraper, Dwayne Johnson was quoted saying, “In a summer full of cool & badass Superheroes & capes, my town of Hollywood doesn't make movies like this anymore. But I wanted to make a film that paid homage and respect to the classic action movies that inspired me and entire generations - DIE HARD to TOWERING INFERNO to THE FUGITIVE. A wounded warrior's blood, sweat, love & grit to save his family. Most physically and emotionally demanding role of my career. Loved every second and grateful to my writer/director Rawson Thurber for bringing this role my way.”

However, from the trailer Skyscraper looks like a movie that will be both high on power-packed action sequences as well as emotions. Dwayne Johnson always pushes himself to do something that he has never done before. Similarly, in Skyscraper, his character is put through emotional turmoil as he fights to save his family. Skyscraper definitely seems to be a mixture of the movies Dwayne Johnson has mentioned. Fans of the classic action movies and Dwayne Johnson definitely won’t be disappointed.

Skyscraper is all set to release on 13th July 2018 in theatres near you.
