I'm hoping it's surprisingly good. But we'll see...

Out of those the ones I'd want to see, eventually, are The Beguiled, Blade Runner, and Logan.
Beauty and the Beast is a maybe, possibly for me as well...I have lots of people around me that are probably pumped for it so I made inadvertently watch it at some point anyways, haha

Funny we're talking about this because the lead in Beauty and the Beast (besides Watson, obviously) is the same lead in Legion :p ...just furrier.

I've grown up around Disney fanatics, so I just imagine I'll come face to face with it at some point. I'm not gung-ho for it, but I'll probably get around to it at some time.

Yes, I've seen The Guest! Loved it (I even posted on its board somewhat recently)!

After that and Legion, I've quickly become quite a fan of Dan Stevens. I appreciate him trying to distance himself from Downton (which I was never into), his tastes and choices seem to be far outside of that and more interesting than that so it's nice to see him stretch his wings and show his range a little more.

Did you like The Guest? What a sharp turn for him, but I'd wager he might not have gotten as many opportunities since without it because it was such a shift that suddenly people could see him doing other things aside from British period pieces.

I always feel bad for actors who get typecast or get stuck in a crutch where people expect them to stay that way or whatever. It's almost like people forget that the whole point of their job is to go off and play wildly different characters and such. Success can be bittersweet like that!

Watson does seem an odd fit for him as Beast because of the age, but eh, it doesn't bother me all that much since we're dealing with such a fantastical thing and he's (I assume) mostly going to be not even be a full human for most of it, hah

A younger woman being paired with an older (albeit Stevens isn't that old) man?! The shock?! (please take note of my sarcasm :p)

20 year olds are dads, does that make them old? haha...but I get what you're saying still! That story certainly isn't without its problems.

I liked The Guest because of its style and tonal shift. I like when things start out one way and suddenly, zag wildly in the third act. It also had a lot of influences and I think sort of satirized (if that's the right word) them well while also not taking itself too seriously, I mean, I laughed with it here and there...I guess some people might be too creeped out or horrified to, but...it certainly plays into a certain sense of dark humor. So, I appreciated and enjoyed all that.

The Strangers Things comparison, well yeah, because they both borrow from an 80s type of pastiche or whatever the hell, but I'd say that's about it.

I'm also just a big acting dork and so that's the area I tend to latch onto the most with any given production and so I respect actors who could've easily slid into those typecast roles and sit there for the rest of their days just doing that and cashing in on one thing or coasting on being attractive or stupid things like that, but choose or feel the urge not to and go and do things people would never expect them to do. Performers who don't rest on their laurels, I suppose, is what I'm saying.

They have such an awesome and privileged job that it's nice to see ones that really relish in it, or are passionate about it and making en effort. /End nerd rant XP

Yes, a 20 year old better at least wise up quick! haha

I get what you're saying about The Guest. It does really take an outrageous turn there towards the end and it's either like you're in it or it'll take you right out! I suppose it all just comes down to preference and I guess, getting some of the influences would help too, but that's all film nerd stuff.

I haven't watched Redmayne in much, to be honest, but he seems good to me! But I'm fairly immersed in the British side of things so I would agree that this current generation of them are pretty impressive. Their industry, particularly, seems like it could be fairly suffocating at times...so the wanting to get out and try different things seems to be a bit of a symptom of them all!

p.s. your, "it's nice to see actors acting." cracked me up a bit, haha, that's a nice and simple way to put it. Certainly more succinct than my rant :P
