What if the 1934 Production Code hadn’t been implemented?

If the censorship code hadn’t muzzled studios, how far do you think they would have taken sex, nudity and violence?

You think we would have had full nudity and bloody violence in the 40s or 50s vs waiting until the late 60s?

And how do you think the majority of audiences would have reacted? Accepted or rejected it?

Maybe for a niche audience, like what happened with b-movies later. No so much for mainstream movies, because back then people, especially women, would consider such movies indecent.

If I remember correctly, the code was created because of public backlash over a popular actress and actor that committed a murder or something. I forgot what the actors' names were. The backlash from the public was so strong. The public boycotted Hollywood studios. I forgot which ones. I think Paramount was a major one. Perhaps even Fox got involved. The major studios lost thousands of dollars because people boycotted movies. Hollywood was considered decandent and morally bankrupted. So, those actors were fired and the code created.
